About NSIHT

NSIHT is the largest ongoing survey of adults using psychedelics in the U.S., providing critical data to improve safety and effectiveness. NSIHT has launched three times since 2024, expecting it’s fourth data collection period in Winter 2025. NISHT is designed to study the context surrounding how adults use these substances, including detailed measurements of behaviors related to the use of specific substances. The survey also monitors changes in psychedelic use over time.

Survey Methods  

  • Design: Repeat cross-sectional online survey, conducted twice yearly

  • Participants: U.S. adults (18+) who used psychedelics in the past year

  • Coverage: Nationally representative across all states

  • Quality: Validated methodology with 2+ years of development

  • Funding: Development of pilot funded through US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) Grant No. 75S20124P00003
